Here’s When ‘Landman’ Returns to Fort Worth for Season 3

Taylor Sheridan’s “Landman” will return to Fort Worth soon. The Sheridan and Christian Wallace co-created show returned for its 10-episode second season in November 2025 and aired weekly until mid-January. The Paramount+ show filmed in and around Fort Worth over the spring and summer last year. “Landman” was renewed for a third season just a couple of weeks after season 2 premiered. Here’s what to know about when the show will return to Fort Worth for season 3 filming.

When will ‘Landman’ return to Fort Worth for filming?

After the season 2 finale, Wallace confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that “Landman” begins filming season 3 in May. This date is later in the year than the previous two seasons, which saw production begin in February 2024 for season 1 and March 2025 for season 2.

Wallace acknowledged this in the THR piece. “We are a little bit later than we were the last two seasons, but that only matters for us because of the heat in Texas,” Wallace said. “When we get back into production this year, it’s going to be pretty full on, and just getting hotter.”

Wallace is spot on with his heat comments, since 100-degree temperatures and Fort Worth are two peas in a pod during the summer. For season 2, Wallace told the Star-Telegram that it was a 100-day shoot, which equates to about five months of production. If that’s the same production window on season 3, the cast and crew will be filming through the hottest parts of the year in July and August.

“That’s the big struggle from a production standpoint for us being on set every day,” Wallace said to THR. “We have so many exteriors, and that’s a good thing because this show thrives in the dust and the heat and the reality of that gritty, hot world. But it is hard on the crew and cast, and on everybody. Twelve-hour days in 100-plus degree weather is no joke. But that is our cross to bear, not the audiences’.”

What will ‘Landman’ season 3 be about?

Editor’s note: Spoilers for “Landman” season 2 below “Landman” ended its second season with Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) beginning his own oil company. The move came after Tommy was fired from M-TEX Oil in episode nine after Cami Miller (Demi Moore) said he was not risky enough and too adverse to what she’s trying to do for the company.

In the season finale, Tommy springs into action and acquires the leases to several of his son Cooper’s (Jacob Lofland) wells that struck oil. Tommy also finds a partner in Gallino (Andy Garcia), his frequent adversary. Tommy then informs several of his former M-TEX co-workers about his new company — CTT Oil Exploration & Cattle. They all jump ship and are now under the employment of the new business.

Heading into season 3, Wallace hasn’t said much about where the story will go, beyond that viewers can expect the same antics. “At the end of the day, it is Taylor’s plan and we’re all just waiting on what he decides to do,” Wallace said. “There’s a great level of trust there that whatever Taylor decides will be the right move. There are a lot of possibilities, but I’m not sure myself exactly how it’s going to play out. So, we’ll see.”

All episodes of “Landman” are streaming on Paramount+.
