Eversince Josh had been in prison, his team of attorneys had been finding ways to ensure he gets to walk free. Duggar News: Here’s What Happened After Josh Duggar Demanded A Court-Appointed Attorney
As mentioned above, Josh Duggar has been wanting a lawyer appointed by the court to see to it that he gets a re-trial. Despite many rejections, he doesn’t seem to give up, even after being in prison for a couple of years now. Duggar News followers found out that Josh had written to Judge Timothy L. Brooks. He’s the same judge who oversaw his original trial back in 2021.
Josh’s ultimate request has been to get an attorney that can overturn the prison sentence or atleast help reduce the time he’s been told to serve. In his letter, the former TV star also argued that there were errors made during his arrest and his constitutional rights got violated. Hence, Josh felt that these things deserve a second look and wanted a qualified lawyer for the same.
Well, the latest update after Josh sent the letter is that U.S. Magistrate Judge Christy Comstock has rejected his request. She emphasised that his motion had a “lack of specific details” and didn’t meet the legal standards to qualify for court-appointed counsel. The judge explained that while it’s true that courts do have the power to provide lawyers post-conviction, there should be a valid legal issue for that.
