‘Dutton Ranch’ Is Coming Back for Season 2—But With One Big Change
Beth and Rip aren’t leaving Texas anytime soon! And thank goodness, because after everything those two have survived, it would be pretty rude to make Yellowstone fans say goodbye again so quickly.
Paramount+ has officially renewed Dutton Ranch for Season 2, meaning Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser will continue their Yellowstone spinoff as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. The news comes after a huge start for the series: According to Paramount, Dutton Ranch drew 12.9 million global viewers in its first seven days on Paramount+, making it the streamer’s biggest original series launch ever.
Season 1 follows Beth and Rip as they try to build a new life in South Texas, which of course is easier said than done. There are neighboring ranch problems, old wounds, new enemies, and plenty of Beth being Beth. The Season 1 finale streams Friday, July 3, on Paramount+, so at least fans can head into that last episode knowing the story won’t end there.
But Season 2 will come with one notable behind-the-scenes change. Chad Feehan, who created Dutton Ranch and served as showrunner and executive producer on Season 1, will not return for the second season. Cole addressed the change in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter: “Showrunners change all the time. This business is about adapting,” he said. “We’ve been doing this for a long time. Things change. People move on.”
Kelly also spoke warmly about finishing the first season with Feehan, telling the outlet, “We finished this season together. It was a really difficult but really satisfying show to make.”
There’s no premiere date for Season 2 just yet, and story details are still under wraps. But one thing is settled: Beth and Rip’s next chapter is officially on the way!
