Taylor Sheridan’s career seemed to blow up overnight with the release of Yellowstone, but while the acclaimed Western series ended on December 15, 2024, there’s no doubt that the work on Sheridan’s plate has only continued to grow, not reduce or stop at a standstill. Before Sheridan rose to prominence as a creator, writer, and director, the North Carolina native got his foot in the door as an actor in shows like Walker, Texas Ranger, Veronica Mars, and NYPD Blue. In the mid-2010s, Sheridan shifted gears to screenwriting, writing the screenplays for Sicario (2015), Hell or High Water (2016), and Wind River (2017).
It wasn’t until Yellowstone premiered in 2018 that Sheridan’s career trajectory shifted dramatically upwards. Focusing on the Dutton family and their expansive ranch in Montana, Sheridan and everyone else involved in the production received immediate praise, with Sheridan’s directing, writing, and executive producer credits particularly hailed as excellent. Outside of Yellowstone, Sheridan also created several other television series, particularly for Paramount+: Mayor of Kingstown, starring Jeremy Renner, and Lioness, starring Zoe Saldaña, to name a few. Sheridan has remained busy, but with several more upcoming series lined up for late 2025 through the end of 2026, the Yellowstone creator isn’t done making his mark on television just yet.
The Madison
The Madison is the closest Sheridan post-Yellowstone project to crossing the finish line. Although the upcoming series doesn’t have a release date just yet, it’s expected to premiere between late 2025 and early 2026. The Madison will be set in central Montana, like its mother show, but will focus on a different family and their cross-country journey from New York; the official synopsis on IMDb reads, “A New York family’s life unravels after a tragedy, as they process grief while vacationing in rural Montana, exploring human connection amidst profound sorrow.”
The Madison was first announced in May 2023; filming took place between September and December 2024 in Montana, New York, and Texas. Michelle Pfeiffer will lead the series as Stacy Clyburn, the family matriarch. The Madison cast list also includes Patrick J. Adams (Russell McIntosh), Elle Chapman (Paige McIntosh), Matthew Fox (Paul), Beau Garrett (Abigail Reese), and Amiah Miller (Bridgette Reese). It remains unclear whether any members of the Dutton family will make an appearance, but considering the series is set in Montana, guest appearances are certainly possible.
Y: Marshals

A direct spin-off of Yellowstone, Y: Marshals, is gearing up for a 2026 release. The series will follow Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), the youngest Dutton child, and his adventures as a U.S. Marshall. The synopsis provided by IMDb reads, “Ex-Navy SEAL Kayce Dutton leaves Yellowstone Ranch to join the U.S. Marshals, using his cowboy and military skills to fight crime in Montana while dealing with family ties and the mental toll of law enforcement.” Y: Marshals and Kayce’s return were first announced in May 2025.
Fans of Yellowstone need to add Y:Marshals to their watchlists in 2026, as several members of the Dutton family, as well as their acquaintances, will reprise their roles. Besides Kayce, other Yellowstone characters who will appear in Y: Marshals include Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham), Mo (Moses Brings Plenty), and Kayce’s son, Tate (Brecken Merrill). It’s unclear whether Kayce’s wife, Monica (Kelsey Asbille), will also make an appearance. New characters that will be introduced on Y: Marshals include Belle (Arielle Kebbel), Andrea (Ash Santos), and Harry Gifford (Brett Cullen).
6666

6666, otherwise known as the Four Sixes Ranch, is perhaps Sheridan’s most personal upcoming series. The Four Sixes Ranch is a real ranch that spans three counties in West Texas, and was founded in 1870 by Samuel Burk Burnett. In May 2021, Sheridan purchased the Four Sixes Ranch for reportedly $347.7 million. As the owner of Four Sixes Ranch, the property has already been featured in several of Sheridan’s projects. Yellowstone seasons 4 and 5 feature shots of the ranch, as does Landman (2024-Present), a drama series that will release its second season on November 16, 2025.
6666 doesn’t have an official release date yet, but is expected to premiere by the end of 2026. Initially, the series was supposed to be wrapped up in time for a 2024 release (it was first announced in 2021), but 6666 was inevitably pushed back because of the 2023 Hollywood strikes, which lasted from May to November. The series will follow the inner workings and operations of the Four Sixes Ranch, as its ranchers attempt to raise and cultivate world-class livestock. Unlike Yellowstone, which primarily focused on a familial unit, 6666 is set to primarily revolve around business.
1944

Like 1883 and 1893, 1944 is a direct prequel to the main Yellowstone series. As the series title suggests, 1944 will follow the Dutton family during the later events of World War II. With the family already settled in Montana as depicted by the previous two prequels, the show will undoubtedly revolve around how the Second World War affects the Duttons, their ranch, and the Mountain West region of the United States as a whole. The third prequel in the Yellowstone franchise may also focus on the early life of John Dutton II (Dabney Coleman), the father of Yellowstone protagonist John Dutton III (Kevin Costner).
Unlike the other entries on this list, 1944 is still in its early production stages—so early, in fact, that 1944 is still considered its working title and subject to change between now and release day. The upcoming series doesn’t appear to be close to filming soon, and if there are cast members, none have been announced yet. 1944 is expected to premiere by the end of 2026. The series was first mentioned by Sheridan in 2022, who, at the time, was also interested in making another Yellowstone spin-off/prequel set in the 1960s.
The Dutton Ranch

The Dutton Ranch, another direct spin-off of Yellowstone, will follow Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), her parents’ only daughter, and Beth’s husband, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). As one of the strongest and most dedicated relationships featured throughout the series (although the characters faced conflict like everyone else), Beth and Rip were introduced as high school sweethearts; the pair eventually tied the knot in Yellowstone season 4 and formed a close bond with Carter (Finn Little), a young ranch hand who initially met Beth while in the hospital.
The Dutton Ranch was informally titled Beth and Rip Spin-off until recently, when the series’ official name was announced. Thespin-off will focus on Beth and Rip’s marital and business lives following the events of the Yellowstone series finale, with Little reprising his role as Carter, now their adopted son. Annette Benin is also reported to star as a head rancher in Texas, indicating that the series will introduce a new ranch in the Lone Star State. The Dutton Ranch was originally supposed to premiere in late 2025, but was later delayed to 2026.
NOLA King

The last upcoming project on this list is the only one not related to Yellowstone. Tulsa King, a crime drama series created by Sheridan, follows Dwight “The General” Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone), a member of the New York mafia who attempts to establish a new criminal empire in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after being released from prison. Tulsa King season 3 will premiere on September 21, 2025; the show’s ensemble cast includes Martin Starr (Bohdi Geigerman), Jay Will (Tyson Mitchell), Max Casella (Manny Truisi), and Vincent Piazza (Vince Antonacci). The series has been nominated for several awards for its first two seasons, including the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Stunt Coordination for a Comedy Series or a Variety Program.
Tulsa King season 4 and a spin-off series, NOLA King, were announced simultaneously in September 2024. Set in New Orleans, Samuel L. Jackson will lead the show as Russell Lee Washington Jr. The character will be introduced in Tulsa King season 3 during a conversation with Manfredi and will be featured in a multi-episode story arc, directly linking the two crime dramas together. While not much about NOLA King has been revealed beyond that, it can be informed that Washington Jr. leaves Tulsa for New Orleans, and partakes in several escapades after. Additional cast members have yet to be announced for NOLA King, and with filming projected to begin in early 2026, fans of Sheridan and his TV empire can expect to tune in by the end of next year.
