It sounds like “Landman” season two is going to be a wild ride.
Production has officially begun on Season 2 of Landman! It was confirmed on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, that the cast had begun shooting for the second season in Texas. Paramount+ confirmed the news by sharing a photo of Thornton (above) with a Season 2 script.
Billy Bob Thornton drops “Landman” season two update.
Fans have been eager for season two ever since season one wrapped up back in January. Production is currently underway, and fans are likely looking at a release at some point in 2026. It sounds like fans are in for a very fun time, judging from some recent comments from Thornton. The star of the hit series said the following during an interview with Gold Derby:
“Last year we had every episode when we started. We do not this year. We’ve only seen about half of it. I can tell you this much. I’m loving this season, the relationships are really growing and gelling, not only as actors, but with the characters. The first season of anything, you’re explaining everything to everybody and the trick to writing things like that is to not make it seem like exposition, and I thought Taylor did a wonderful job of that in Season one. But now, people know who we are, so we don’t have to set anything up anymore. We just dove right into it and we were these people again.”
ICYMI, the second season of Landman is on the way and yet another iconic actor will be joining the cast. Most recently, fans of the Taylor Sheridan series were treated to an exciting glimpse into the upcoming season when Ali Larter shared a behind-the-scenes selfies with her co-stars.
“A little BTS of Season 2, baby,” Larter writes in her caption, “Love this cast.”
The first image shows Larter sitting on a jib lift in a colorful dress, while the second shows Thornton donning a suit jacket in a bedroom filled with crew members. The fourth features Larter sitting alongside Michelle Randolph and Thornton, and the following shows Larter posing with Dale actor James Jordan and Cooper actor Jacob Lofland. Finally, at the end of the carousel is a shot of Larter and Randolph together in a car.
The candid snapshot not only sparked anticipation, but also confirmed that none other than Sam Elliott himself will be a special addition to the cast as a series regular. From one Taylor Sheridan show to another, when news about Elliott joining the ensemble alongside Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, and Jon Hamm dropped, it send shockwaves through fans. And, so did her photo.
Larter shared a look into filming for the upcoming season. Dressed in an animal-print blouse and jeans, the 49-year-old actress was all smiles standing next to Sam Elliott and Michelle Randolph who plays Ainsley Norris, the rebellious 17-year-old daughter of Tommy and Angela.
As the cast continues to share updates and behind-the-scenes moments like this one, we’re all on the edge of our seats for the return of Landman. With Sam Elliott joining the ranks and plenty of drama to come, we’ll be keeping a close eye out for more news as the release date approaches.
