‘Sister Wives’ Kody Brown Confirms What We All Suspected

Sister Wives star Kody Brown admitted that his last remaining wife, Robyn Brown, made it difficult for him to end his spiritual marriages with ex-wives Meri Brown and Janelle Brown.

Robyn, 46, confronted Kody, 55, about some “strange” things he said in the past to her in a teaser clip for the Sunday, January 5, episode shared by Entertainment Tonight. “Are you just bitter or are you rewriting the past?” she asked.

“I don’t want to blame you for me hanging on to Meri,” he responded. “I felt like I couldn’t get out of that and you were back in my conscious saying, ‘You can’t leave.’”

Robyn insisted that she did not prevent Kody and Meri, 53, from ending their marriage sooner, but instead encouraged the former couple to see if they could work through their issues before they called it quits.

“I’m not gonna sit here and try and fix things with a marriage that will never work,” Kody said as he continued to reflect on Robyn’s involvement in the end of his marriage to Meri. “Just because you think that we should, or your belief in plural marriage.”

After Robyn asked if Janelle, 55, was “interested” in rejoining their plural family, Kody said that she was closed off to the idea.

Kody went on to express his version of the conflict in a confessional, and he shared examples of how Robyn seemingly encouraged him to stay in marriages he wasn’t happy with.

“I probably would have moved on from Meri a lot sooner, but Robyn was constantly encouraging that relationship. She told me that I needed to go and sleep on Christine [Brown]’s couch when Christine kicked me out of the house, and I was like, ‘No way. I’m not doing that,’” Kody said in a confessional, adding that Robyn was “begging” him not to fight with Janelle in another instance.

Janelle also weighed in on the claims, admitting she had “no idea what Robyn was pushing Kody to do.” She continued in her own confessional, “I think it’s a shame if Kody could be that controlled by Robyn that he would stay in a relationship that, you know, wasn’t working.”

Meanwhile, Meri admitted she knew that “Robyn was very much wanting [her] and Kody’s relationship to heal.”

“I do believe that when Robyn came into the family, she intended to have a plural family,” Meri continued in a solo confessional. “And I don’t think that that changed.”
