Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Landman’ Blindsides Fans with BIG Season 2 Update
Created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, Landman stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a grizzled petroleum worker in West Texas navigating the landmines of the oil industry. Season 1 premiered on November 17, 2024, and wrapped in January, with Season 2 greenlit just two months later in March. Filming for the second season quietly kicked off in early April, keeping the turnaround tight — and fans appreciative.
Sheridan’s own storytelling footprint continues to expand far beyond Yellowstone, with Landman quickly becoming the next must-watch chapter in the so-called Sheridanverse alongside Tulsa King and Mayor of Kingstown. Season 2 will see the return of Demi Moore as Cami Miller, a character who’s stepping into much deeper waters this time around. Thornton recently teased the dynamic ahead:
“Since [Moore’s character] doesn’t really know the oil business that well, I’m there with her to show her how these people operate. You can know something intellectually, but what are the street smarts behind it? I know how to deal with these people she’s going to have to deal with.”
Who Appears in ‘Landman’ Season 2?
Season 2 will introduce a wave of new characters, including Guy Burnet (Chicago Fire) as Charlie Newsom, a charismatic oil and gas engineer, and Miriam Silverman (Your Friends & Neighbors) as Greta Stidham, an intimidating university admissions counselor. Most exciting of all? Sheridan has enlisted Yellowstone and 1883 legend Sam Elliott in an undisclosed role — a tantalizing addition that could deepen the show’s roots in Western grit and generational conflict.
Landman Season 2 is in production now.
