The series, which came back for its 10-episode second season in November 2025 and ran through mid-January, was renewed for a third season just weeks after its Season 2 premiere.
Now, Wallace has confirmed when cameras will roll again. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Wallace revealed that Landman will begin filming Season 3 in May. That’s noticeably later than previous seasons, which kicked off production in February 2024 for Season 1 and March 2025 for Season 2.
“We are a little bit later than we were the last two seasons, but that only matters for us because of the heat in Texas,” Wallace said. “When we get back into production this year, it’s going to be pretty full on, and just getting hotter.”
Anyone who’s been in Fort Worth during the summer knows exactly what he means. Once July and August roll around, 100-degree days are basically the norm.
For Season 2, Wallace previously said the production ran about 100 days — roughly five months of filming. If Season 3 follows a similar schedule, that means cast and crew will be working straight through the most punishing stretch of the Texas summer.
“That’s the big struggle from a production standpoint for us being on set every day. We have so many exteriors, and that’s a good thing because this show thrives in the dust and the heat and the reality of that gritty, hot world. But it is hard on the crew and cast, and on everybody. Twelve-hour days in 100-plus degree weather is no joke. But that is our cross to bear, not the audiences’.”
That environment, though brutal, is also part of what gives Landman its distinct feel, and its yellowish tinge on screen too. The show leans into the harshness of the oilfield world, and filming under real conditions adds to the texture Sheridan’s projects are known for.
So while viewers get the sweeping landscapes and sun-baked tension on screen, the people behind the camera are very much living it. Season 3 might bring new storylines and fresh conflicts, but one thing’s guaranteed: the Texas heat is once again playing a starring role.
