Shocking Transformation! Jacob Lofland Shares What’s Next for Cooper Norris in Landman Season 2

As Landman continues to strike oil with viewers and critics alike, one of its breakout stars is reflecting on how far both the show — and his character — have come. Actor Jacob Lofland, who plays Cooper Norris on the Paramount+ hit, joined Billy Bob Thornton and co-creator Christian Wallace at the ATX TV Festival in Austin this weekend to celebrate the show’s record-breaking first season. But while he’s ready to relive the series’ success, his mind’s already in Fort Worth — and focused on what comes next.

“I’ve always loved Texas,” Lofland said in a recent interview with Cowboys and Indians. “But being able to work in Fort Worth especially — it feels like a second home. I’d love to get a house there soon. Dallas is cool, but Fort Worth? I love Fort Worth.”

What Can We Expect From Cooper in ‘Landman’ Season 2?

Lofland describes Cooper as “a lovely, ambitious kid who’s trying to make sense of the world.” As the son of Thornton’s oil industry veteran Tommy Norris, Cooper begins Landman Season 1 by learning the ropes — and occasionally learning the hard way. “He’s still learning who he is as a man,” Lofland said. “And we get to walk alongside him as he figures things out.”

He credits Taylor Sheridan’s writing for giving him something honest to build from. “So much of what [Cooper] is going through — whether it’s personal struggles, emotional moments, or tough decisions — are things I’ve dealt with in my own life in one form or another,” Lofland shared. “They’re real, human emotions. And that goes back to Taylor’s writing — there are very few people who can put that kind of raw honesty on the page like he does.”

As for what’s ahead in Season 2, Lofland is happy to leave it in Sheridan’s hands. “I honestly don’t try to predict it,” he said.

“The surprise keeps it real — and it helps you react authentically. That said, I’m just excited to portray Cooper becoming the man he’s meant to be. Building a life for himself and the people around him — that’s compelling to me. Watching a young man try to find his way in today’s world is a story worth telling.”

Landman Season 1 is available to stream now on Paramount, while production is fully underway in Texas on the second season of the show. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
