Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly hinted at what’s coming up for their Yellowstone characters in the new spinoff series, Dutton Ranch.

Hauser and Reilly played Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton, respectively, in the Taylor Sheridan-created series that made its debut in 2018. Yellowstone followed “a ranching family in Montana (who) faces off against others encroaching their land,” its description reads on IMDb. The show also starred Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes, Wes Bentley, Kelsey Asbille and others. The finale aired in December 2024.

“It’s a new beginning. Absolute new beginning,” Hauser said of Dutton Ranch when he and Reilly appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Hauser and Reilly reprise their roles in Dutton Ranch, created by Chad Feehan. The cast also includes Fin Little, Juan Pablo Raba, Hart Denton, Jai Courtney and more. Per IMDb, the new Western-drama focuses on “Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler fight to survive on their cherished 7,000-acre ranch amid tough times and stiff competition, while ensuring young Carter becomes the man he’s supposed to be.”

“Everything is different about this show,” Reilly shared with Kelly Clarkson. “I mean, Yellowstone was its complete ending. We’re so proud of it. We loved it. the ending was poetic and beautiful, and Beth and Rip went off to their own small little ranch, and hopefully went into the sunset. So, we picked them up a year later still where they were, but then unfortunately something — I don’t want to give it away — but something happens and we are forced out of Montana. So, we really do begin again in Texas. …We’re fish out of water. We are strangers to everyone we meet. But the audience are hopefully with us because they know us so well, and what we’re capable of.”

Dutton Ranch premiered earlier this month. New episodes premiere weekly on Fridays, airing at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Paramount and available to stream on Paramount+.
